Nice Catch! Sunday morning, January 25, son Luke begged dad, Mike Hartung, to  spend five more minutes fishing, when this nice northern hit the "Swedish Pimple"! The northern measured 35.5" long and weighed 11 pounds.

Joanne Knoblich took this photo at the Red Bridge Inn where fifteen Portage Lake women met for lunch on August 25. Pictured are Clarice Schieck, Bev Steenson, and Arlene  Wettlaufer   sitting on a Victorian couch in the lobby after enjoying the wild rice soup, chicken salad lunch. Afterwards, the women took  a tour of the Inn led by hostess and Portage Lake resident, Patti Clark. Patti Clark's daughter, Jenny Anderson, is  co-owner of The Red Bridge Inn.

Tim James of the MPCA and the core sampling scientists have been invited.  Hopefully, they will be able to  attend and tell us the results of the core sampling done  May, 2008 in Portage Lake.
